Biography

 

  Miguel Kertsman, composer, record producer, audio engineer and musician, has served in executive, A&R (Artist and Repertoire), engineering, and production capacities with the RCA Victor Group (BMG), Sony Classical, Chesky Records, and Quintessential Sounds, in New York, London, Hamburg and Vienna, in addition to collaborating with several other recording labels such as EMI, The Sanctuary Group, etc.

  He actively composes classical concert stage music for orchestras and ensembles. Artists who have performed and/or recorded his music include mezzo soprano Angelika Kirchschlager & guitarist John Williams, conductor Dennis Russell Davies and the Bruckner Orchester Linz , The Ahn Trio, flutists Wolfgang Schulz of the Vienna Philharmonic and Marina Piccinini, The Opera Viva Ensemble touring major European opera houses, flutist Ransom Wilson & Ellis Marsalis, and several chamber ensembles and symphony orchestras.

  Previous albums as main or featured Artist include "RHYTHMIC FISSION" released internationally by RCA Victor / BMG, "AMAZONICA" released by Sony Classical, "Gravity Tunnel" (Proxima Records / INDI) , "United House Nations" - Circa Records/Virgin, co-produced with Madonna's original producer, Mark Kamins.

  Miguel’s progressive Brazilian jazz ensemble Amazonica Universal Orchestra has performed to sold out audiences at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall NY, The Knitting Factory and several New York jazz clubs in addition to open air and theater shows in Vienna and Brazil. The band is now regrouped in Los Angeles and will start touring during the 2007 season in the US, Europe and South America.

  Kertsman has collaborated with many musicians, producers and Grammy winning DJ's/remixers as a studio musician - keyboardist, composer, arranger, conductor and producer. Projects have ranged from pop, chart-topping dance remixes, world music to classical records.

  His music has been featured on MTV's "Road Rules", ABC Australia and special radio features in the US, Germany, France, Austria, Israel, Brazil, Australia, Japan, Spain and Greece among others. His album Amazonica garnished international critical acclaim - (Absolute Sound's "Top Super CD's", Jazz times US, Rolling Stone Germany, BBC Music UK, Classic CD, Repertoire & Liberation France, Folha de Sao Paulo Brazil, Trebede Spain, Wiener Zeitung Austria, etc).

  Several of his productions have earned awards such as a Grammy Award Nomination, The Cannes Classical Music Award, Classic CD Award, and his work reviewed on most major music and audio publications around the world.

  In addition to his publishing company, Amazonica Music, Miguel Kertsman's music is also published by Universal Edition - Spectrum Series - for sheet Music sales,and Kossack Edition. The catalog is currently represented by A2K Music for Licencing.

  He has also written music for the media and soundtracks.

  Current solo album project: MK, where vintage electronica, symphonic elements, African Brazilian energy, some pure sonic madness and earthy and otherworldly sounds naturally meet. The project is currently under production (LA, NY, Vienna, Chicago ).

  Additionally, three of his own symphonic works have been recently recorded with conductor Dennis Russell Davies, and the symphonic album will be released in 2007.
